2019 – Mia and Alanna Amoscato

Mia and Alanna Amoscato played the role of Maggie Gaffigan on The Jim Gaffigan Show. The girls have been seen in the films How to Be Single and Sully, and this year have been busy with The Irishman, Love Life, modeling and more!

1. How did Mia and Alanna get started in the industry? Is there any way to tell the girls apart on screen?
A friend on Facebook shared a post regarding a casting call for newborn babies. At first we were hesitant that it was legit. But after researching and determining that it was a real casting through a real agency, we submitted pictures and booked the role of Madeline in How to Be Single. Mia and Alanna were 2 months old at the time. After that, the agent asked us to submit pictures for other castings and it went from there. We started researching more about the business and began booking many roles as babies and infants and are now working on projects with speaking roles.

2. What was the experience like for the girls to be a part of the film Sully?
It was incredibly cold and rainy for early October. The film was shooting at South Street Seaport in Manhattan and we were on a ferry that was rocking so much that it was actually making us very sea sick. Despite it being a cold and rainy day, the filming went quite quickly and everyone was very nice. They even clapped when the girls wrapped their scene.

3. How did Mia and Alanna enjoy working with Leslie Mann on How to Be Single?
Leslie is incredibly sweet. Being a mom herself, she was very attentive to the girls and even said they were “The most chill and laid back babies” she had ever worked with. She asked how it was to have twins. But to us, its very normal because we do not know any different.

4. What was the casting process like for The Jim Gaffigan Show?
Central Casting had put out a casting notice for single babies for the Jim Gaffigan Show. We had never self submitted for jobs as single babies but took a chance with submitting for this role anyway since there are no rules that twins HAVE to work together. The casting director emailed us interested in having the girls interview for the role of Maggie. We had an in person audition with Jeannie Gaffigan (Jim’s wife and show producer) with 2 other babies who were singletons. They played with the girls and had tested them being picked up by one of the men there to make sure they were okay with being picked up by strangers who were men. The girls did great and they decided to cast all 4 babies for the show. Because there were so many scenes and so many days, it was nice to split some of the filming dates and times.

5. How was Jim Gaffigan to the girls on-set of the show?
Jim was awesome and a super nice guy! There was this one instance when Alanna had to be strapped into a high chair and she did not want to be restrained so she was a little fussy and tired. Jim had the entire crew sing “The Itsy Bitsy Spider” to her so she would cheer up and cooperate. It worked! The entire crew and all the other actors sang to her and we have a video of that sweet moment that was caught behind the scenes. We had the opportunity to work with and meet his entire family, wife and 5 children and the girls really loved his youngest son Patrick.

6. Do you have a favorite scene they filmed for the show?
Our favorite scenes that we worked on for Jim Gaffigan Show was the episode shot at the Museum of Natural History. There was a gigantic Brachiosaurus skeleton and so many neat exhibits to see plus, we got to be there when the entire place was closed to the public and it was just the filming crew.

7. What is your favorite type of work to do (commercial, film, print, TV)?
Mia – Film!
Alanna – Print modeling

8. How did you enjoy shooting for Be Mine Collection?
We love shooting for Be Mine Collection because we get to shoot with one of our favorite photographers, Mary Kate Gutierrez (MKG Photography)

9. Do you ever get to watch your scenes from your TV roles? How do you like seeing yourselves on television?
Yes, our mom and dad showed us when we were little babies on TV.
Mia- I was so little and adorable.
Alanna- We got to be on TV like and Peppa Pig and the Descendants!

10. What was the best part of working on Love Life?
There was a big fluffy kitty cat there. He was in a stroller like a baby and we got to pet him. We went for ice cream after too which is our favorite!
