It’s Christmas!

Jeremy Maguire played Young Morgan in an episode of General Hospital. This year he has been seen in a GE Appliances commercial and you may recognize him as Joe on Modern Family!

1. What was your time on set like filming for General Hospital?

It went by so fast. The cast and crew are very good at what they do. Everyone is really nice.

2. How did you enjoy filming your GE Appliances commercial?

I had fun shooting that commercial. They had me do a bunch of silly things. Take the lipstick then draw on my face and run around the kitchen like a crazy kid. I never know what the commercial will be like until I see it on TV.

3. What was the audition process like for Modern Family?

There were four auditions over three weeks. Then I got to do a screen test with Ed O’Neill. The test was on a Wednesday or Thursday. Then we started work on Monday. I was able to wear my cape during the screen test. Everyone was very friendly from the start. During the audition, they had me do kid things like throwing blocks and running.

4. How did you react when you booked the show?

My mom told me that they picked me. I was so excited to work with such nice people!

5. What was your first day on set like?

The cast and crew on Modern Family are so cool. Everyone is really nice. My 4th Birthday was during my first month on set. They had a cake and sang happy birthday to me.

6. How do you prepare your lines for the show?

I’m learning to read but, my mom reads them to me and tells me what the scene is about. We practice the lines and then I memorize them.

7. What has the experience been like working with Ed?

Ed will always take the time to practice with me between takes on set and he gives me good advice on facial expression and timing. He will even act my line out for me at times if I’m having difficulty. I love working with him.

8. What is the best part of filming with Sofia?

Sofia is so funny! We like to tease each other between takes. Also, she is very sweet and gives the best hugs.

9. What has been your favorite episode to film so far?

The season 9 premiere episode was my favorite to shoot. I got to film in Tahoe. It was so beautiful! There is so much to do there. It was a like a vacation with 150 of your best friends. I can’t wait to go back.

10. Is there anything you can tell us about what’s coming up later in the season for Joe?

Joe is turning 6 this season. We will definitely get to see more of his character. He is becoming a bigger part of the story. He gets mad, he falls in love, he hangs from trees…normal 6 year old stuff. It’s my favorite season so far.

1 Day ‘Til Christmas

Londyn Silzer played the role of Bailey on General Hospital and Ava on The Young and The Restless. This year she was busy working for Discount Dance and Mattel!

1. What was it like shooting for Sacoor Brothers?

That was such a fun shoot. I went to Santa Barbara with my Mom and we shot at two beautiful locations with an amazing photographer John Russo. The clothes were really cute and we got to hula hoop!!

2. Do you have a favorite toy you’ve gotten to work with for Mattel?

I love working for Mattel and every time is always super fun and exciting. One of my favorite toys was the Barbie Dream House. It was really special because both me and my sister worked on the Dream House.

3. What was the best part of being on set again for General Hospital?

This was so cool because I got to play a friend of Charlotte’s and I loved my name Bailey! I loved being a part of Shriners Hospital Episode and working with some of the girls who have scoliosis like my character.

4. How did you enjoy working with Scarlett?

We had so much fun and got to be really silly and play together before they called action! One scene we were giggling the whole time but we got right back into the scene when it started!

5. What was the experience like filming with James and Emme?

They were both really nice and I had met Emme before when I would go with my sister to set when she worked. They are pretty funny too.

6. How did it feel to be able to be part of a story in support of Shriners Children’s Hospital?

It felt really great and special. We have a good friend at our dance studio who had surgery last year to help her scoliosis. She is doing great now and such a beautiful dancer. I am really grateful to Be a part of this show it means a lot to me and my family.

7. How did you enjoy attending this year’s GHFCW?

I have been attending with my sister since I was 3 and always so much fun. It is so cool to see so many fans of the show and loved sitting with my sister, Scarlett and Eden:)

8. What was the best part of filming with Grace Park on Hawaii Five-0?

Everything! We had so much fun. Playing around and being silly on set in the grocery store. She would hang out with me in between takes and I am thankful I was able to share some special scenes with Grace.

9. What was it like to film with Alex O’Loughlin?

Always fun! He has a really cool accent that I didn’t know because on the show he doesn’t! He always made me laugh and I loved being able to spend time with him during our scenes especially the Aloha Girl cookie scenes.

10. Do you have a favorite episode you got to do during your time on Hawaii 5-0?

It would have to be my very first episode. It was such a big and exciting and crazy episode! It is when the show met Sara and learned she was Chins Niece! Plus I got to fly to Hawaii for the first time and stay for 8 days!

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

I am so grateful for such an exciting year! Thank you for all of your support and all of your kind words- my Mom let’s me know!

1 Day ‘Til Christmas!

Emily Skinner played Kim Marston in an episode of Days of Our Lives. This year she has been busy filming her role in Disney Channel’s Andi Mack which is currently in its second season!

1. What was your time on set like filming Shake It Up?

I was so excited to get to be a part of the show! I was in the Glitz It Up episode and played a bratty pageant girl who suffers her first defeat. The writing was hilarious and I had a lot of fun playing my villainous character!

2. How did you like working with Zendaya?

Zendaya was warm and welcoming. I remember thinking she was so beautiful, hard working, confident and accomplished. I wanted to be just like her one day…

3. What was your time on set like filming Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp?

I was lucky enough to have a scene with Molly Shannon! She was so easy to work with and the dialogue between myself and her felt so natural when we were filming! I hope to get to work with her again someday!

4. How did you enjoy filming a music video for Avicii?

This was such an amazing project and, to this day, one of my favorite experiences ever! I hadn’t ever done a music video before, so I figured that my chances of booking were not great; but I had a dance teacher whose baby was really sick and I was trying to figure out a way to fund raise for her. I actually self submitted for the project with the intent of donating the profits to her. I was overjoyed to hear that I booked it! I grew so much working on that set under director Julius Onah and with Joshua Fredric Smith as my father…I think that it benefitted me as much as my dance coach! Go check out the video…it is a beautiful story about hope, redemption, and what can happen when someone believes in you:

www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6iKSUoUN48

5. What is it like to be a part of a Disney show vs. working on a primetime show?

Because Andi Mack is a single camera show, all shot on location in Utah, it feels like a primetime show. Andi Mack has also been so much fun to shoot since there are so many kids in the cast…and I truly love hanging out and working with each one of them! Creator Terri Minsky and Executive Producer Michelle Manning; as well as the entire cast and crew, keep the atmosphere professional but also fun and kid friendly!

6. What was your first day on set like for Andi Mack?

First days are always a little nerve-racking…but mostly just super exciting! Sometimes I can barely sleep the night before! But the Andi Mack cast was soooo welcoming from the start, that I warmed up to them quickly and that made the experience even more amazing because I enjoyed being with them so much…it didn’t even feel at all like work!

7. How would you describe your character Amber?

Amber is Andi Mack’s nemesis. First impressions lead the viewers to believe that she is the “it” girl, leader of the popular girl clique. In the first season Amber was Jonah Beck’s girlfriend, and she was jealous and insecure when Jonah and Andi became friends. She tried to pull them apart. But in the second season, Amber is dimensionalized as viewers are given more insight into her tumultuous home life and lack of any meaningful relationships. Amber is more vulnerable this season…she feels lonely and in need of some guidance…

8. What has it been like traveling to Utah to film the show?

The flight to Utah is quite short from California and doesn’t take much longer than driving to LA during traffic hours! I love Utah! Salt Lake City is beautiful and clean, and I love to hang out in Park City with all of its outdoor activities, art galleries, and delicious restaurants!

9. How do you enjoy filming with Peyton Elizabeth Lee?

It is the best getting to work with her! I love Peyton…she is one of my best friends! It is so much fun playing her nemesis on set, but it’s sometimes hard to keep a straight face when playing the mean girl character with her. We both work hard and keep it professional when filming…but we laugh a lot after the scenes are cut since our onscreen relationship is so opposite of our offscreen friendship.

10. What has been your favorite scene to film for the show?

The Ferris Wheel scene in “The Snorpion”, because it was a night shoot on a ferris wheel and we got to have a pizza party after we wrapped!!!!

11. Is there anything else you would like to add?

I feel very lucky to be a part of this groundbreaking show! Thank you so much for interviewing me!!!!!

Happiest Holidays to all of you!!!!

1 Day ‘Til Christmas!

Sloane Morgan Siegel did a season one episode of The Neighbors. This year he has been seen on Pure Gennius, and has been busy working on multiple film projects!

1. What was it like attending the Dream Halloween event?

It was certainly grand, with a beautiful venue, many friends, and it was all for a great cause. We all got to wear costumes and put smiles on kid’s faces. The best part of the night was when I entered the Star Wars room and I had lightsaber battles with all the kids. They won.

2. How did you become a mentor for kids at Zak Barnett Studios? What has the experience been like?

I’ve been learning from Zak for almost 7 years now and he’s taught me everything I know about acting. He approached me last December and asked if I would like to mentor the kid’s class. In January this year I started teaching alongside my mentor to help the kids hone their skills and find a better understanding of acting. It’s been humbling to teach with the person that taught me and to give advice that I needed when I was their age. You honestly learn more when you teach, and I think I’ve learned from the kids just as much as they’ve learned from me.

3. How did you prepare for filming your emotional scenes in your episode of Pure Genius?

That character’s mind works a very specific way. He’s somebody who has lost more than he can comprehend and the trauma has caused him to lose his ability to walk. Mentally, I had to get in the head space of someone who is so used to loss that he would rather not feel his legs than heal and fight through the pain. For the emotional climax, I went into the scene not expecting anything and letting the realizations come naturally. If a script is written well, just speaking the words will evoke emotion. Physically, I worked with three physical therapy nurses from around the world to mimic what it’s like to walk without being able to use my legs so I could give a realistic performance.

4. What was it like to work with the different technology in the episode?

Well I hate to break it to you, but the term movie magic is used for a reason. The virtual reality headset was basically just really dark sunglasses with cool lights on it and various other things just had cool lights too. Since we’re actors, we get to pretend they’re real though.

5. What was it like to film with Brenda Song?

I grew up watching her on Zack and Cody so I was freaking out inside, But she is super energetic and really sweet. She is the brightest light in any room she walks in.

6. How did you enjoy taking part in the playwrights Festival?

I’ve been performing in the Playwrights Festival for 2 years now and soon a third. I love being able to bring an aspiring writer’s work to life and put on a show for people to enjoy. This year’s performance I got to star alongside my best friend David Bloom. Anytime I get to work with friends it’s a pleasure.

7. Is there anything you miss about working on Gortimer Gibbons?

The thing I miss most is being able to walk on set every morning and see the smiles of my crew, but I miss everything about Gortimer. It was a true family and most of us keep in touch still. That set will forever hold some of my favorite memories.

8. How did it feel to win at the Young Entertainer Awards for playing Gortimer?

It was an incredible and satisfying feeling to win something for portraying a character that is dear to my heart. It just lets me know that my performance brings people joy and that is why I act.

9. How did you enjoy working with Caitlin Carmichael on your secret project?

I’ve known Caitlin for about five years now so to finally work with her was a blast. The scenes we have in the show are hilarious and it was really hard not to break character and start laughing. My favorite part of our time together on set was after wrap every night when the cast went to get fast food at Checkers. Can’t wait to share more.

10. Can you tell us anything about your upcoming film?

All I can say is be ready for an awesome science fiction thriller and a movie monster to remember.

2 Days ‘Til Christmas!

Olivia Trujillo filmed multiple episodes of General Hospital. This year she been seen on Little Big Shots and you may recognize her as a judge from season two of The Toy Box!

1. What was your time on set like filming #REALITYHIGH?

I had a blast. Everyone was so much fun and wonderful to be around. Tatiana Lett (young Dani) and I really bonded and spent a lot of time together. Even today I am still friends and in contact with many members of the cast.

2. What was the best part of filming your Walmart commercial?

Working with the remarkable Wonder Woman, totally awesome!

3. How did you enjoy your summer shoot for Target?

Target is always a blast! Who could ever complain about being at the beach and getting paid for it?

4. What was the experience like working on Little Big Shots?

It is a crazy good time. You get to meet so many talented kids from all over the world. The time goes by so fast when you are there.

5. What was it like filming with Steve Harvey?

Steve Harvey is hilarious! I have to say it is live TV, so I was nervous at first. Translating instantaneously is never easy and you have so many dialects in Spanish. None of it was rehearsed or scripted, I get asked that a lot. Some words just do not translate in English, so I was really worried. But then you get on stage and you start laughing because Steve really is that funny and you forget about everything else.

6. How different is it to work on a show like The Toy Box?

The Toy Box is different because you are working with a lot of other kids who have a different perspective on every toy. You are mainly judging adults and their perception of toys they think kids will find fun, outrageous right? But that is what makes it so unique.

7. What is it like filming with Eric Stonestreet?

Eric is like a big kid. I don’t think everyone gets to see how much fun he is on the The Toy Box, but we had a fantastic time. Think of playing with toys all day with your parents. Crazy fun!!!

8. How long did the season take to film?

It went by really fast, we filmed in just under 3 weeks.

9. What is the toughest part of being a judge?

The toughest part of being a judge is you have to tell someone you did not like his or her creation. It’s not personal. You are trying to pick one toy for kids all over the US. It needs to be universal, unique and be the best toy ever. Then as kids we have different interests and that can be challenging when having to make collective choices. I looked for a toy that could be around for an endless amount of time, that was fun for everyone and all ages could play.

10. Do you have a favorite toy you’ve gotten to see on the Toy Box that didn’t make it to the finale?

Yes, but we are still under contract and not allowed to share just yet.

3 Days ‘Til Christmas!

Vivienne Rutherford played Older Arianna on Days of Our Lives. This year she has been seen in commercials for Turbo Tax, Tile, Visit California, and voiced her first animated role!

1. What was your time on set like filming your Turbo Tax commercial?

Well, it was fun! Probably the most fun I had on a set because I met Alana and Connor (two of the other haunted kids) and we played a lot while we waited!

2. What was the experience like filming with Kathy Bates?
I didn’t get to see her a lot, it was kind of all about just scaring her, but she was nice to me when I met her. She said “Are you gonna scare me!?” Then, in one of the scenes where I was shooting with her, she had to drop plates because she was scared of me, because I was a ghost in the window, and I had to keep my eyes open the whole time. I couldn’t blink, because I was a ghost, and ghosts do not blink! And it was really hard, because when she dropped those plates on the ground, it was VERY loud!

3. How did you enjoy filming your Visit California commercial?

They were really nice to me – everybody was nice. But I had to swing around the whole time, and sometimes the waves would crash into me while I upside down. One time, the director said “Action!” and I could see a wave coming at me, but I just went ahead and started saying my lines – and the wave hit me right in the face! And nobody noticed for a moment because they were all concentrating on the camera – but my pretend dad saw what happened, and he pulled me up out of the water IMMEDIATELY!

4. How did you like voicing Waddles the Puffin for Disney Jr?

That was my first animated role! I was in a little studio, and they played the lines from the other kids, so I could hear how everyone sounded and roll right into my lines. They showed me on the computer what Waddles looked like, so I got a sneak peek!

5. What was the process like shooting your commercial for Honda?

I had to wear a big blue cape because they were only filming my head. And I had to sing while this little light went around and around my head. They told me, “Don’t be scared, but the camera is going to go right by your face.” But it wasn’t too scary, I honestly wasn’t afraid of it, even though it did come really close.

6. How did you react to seeing the final cut for it and special effects?

It was weird for me because everybody at school saw it, and everyone kept saying “I saw your head!” or “I recognize that head!”

7. What was the experience like going to Romania to film a commercial?

It was weird having to travel so far to shoot, but I got to fly in the top level of the plane, which was really cool! When I was on set, people would talk to me in Romanian, and I didn’t really know what they were saying, but luckily, my pretend dad spoke English and Romanian, so he would translate for me. We went to a tea shop that had all different kinds of teas, and there was a restaurant that had a kitten who lived in there. He was really cute, but he liked to bite people as they came in! It was August, so it was really hot, and my costume was a long sleeved red shirt with flannel pajamas AND a flannel coat over that. So even though it was night-time, I was still boiling hot!

8. What was the best part of working on your set of Tile commercials?

The best part of the Romanian shoot was having the experience of traveling, and I loved working with my director Mark.

The best part of the Los Angeles shoot was getting to hold Panda Ernie and spending so much time with the crew.

9. How did you prepare all of your lines?

I worked on them at home, and then on set the director would take time to talk me through the lines I was about to say – and then that would echo through my head as we started rolling.

10. Do you have a favorite commercial you have done?

Tile! It’s my favorite because the crew in both Romania & LA – they were so nice (even though sometimes I couldn’t understand them sometimes.) I just loved them!

3 Days ‘Til Christmas!

Dax Randall played the role of Moses Winters on The Young and the Restless in 2016. This year he has been busy working for Walmart, Hollar, Fotex, and more!

1. What was your time on set like shooting for Hollar?

It was so fun because they were super nice and let me pick out three of the costumes I wore for the shoot.

2. Do you have a favorite costume you got to model?

Yes. I loved modeling the Superman one because he’s one of my favorite characters.

3. What was your shoot for Fotex like?

That shoot was really cool because it was on the beach and I love being outside. I just couldn’t understand most of what they were saying because they were from the Scandinavian area of the world.

4. How did you like shooting at the Santa Monica Pier?

Nothing beats being at the ocean for me. It my most favorite place of all.

5. What is the best part of auditioning?

Oh… probably using my imagination since I don’t get to do that at school.

6. How did you enjoy working on your Walmart commercial?

That was very fun and we had our own trailer and everything. I loved playing around with my brother when we filmed.

7. What was it like filming with your brother?

The best. We never, ever got to do anything together and we’re best friends so it was a dream come true.

8. How did you feel seeing it on TV for the first time?

Is it on TV yet? I didn’t even know that. I’m going to have to watch for it and tell you later.

9. Who have been some of your favorite people to work with this year?

My brother of course and the dog I got to work with. He was very sweet.

10. What has been your favorite project to work on this year?

The Walmart commercial with my bro. That’s what I call him sometimes.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Yes. Thanks for checking in with me and I can’t wait to have more to share with you.

3 Days ‘Til Christmas!

Teo Briones played Timmy Bernardi on Days of Our Lives. This year he was seen in the film Wind River and he starred in the Amazon pilot Will vs. The Future!

1. What was it like working on the film Wind River?

It was great. We filmed in Park City, Utah and I had never been there before. It’s a cool place. I was there for about 4 weeks all together. I had a lot of scenes to shoot, most of them didn’t make it into the final edit though. The director, Taylor Sheridan, is so wonderful to work with. He made me feel really comfortable around all those amazing actors. The whole cast and crew were really nice. It was such a great experience.

2. How did you enjoy working with Jeremy Renner?

I loved it! He is such a great actor and inspiration. He was always very serious on set. I think this film was very important to him, and you could see that on set, and it shows in the film as well.

3. How did you react when you heard you booked Lethal Weapon?

I was very excited! It was such a great part and I felt a connection to it already through the audition process. Once you start to do something so many times for auditions, callback after callback, it starts to be a part of you already.

4. What was it like working with Clayne Crawford?

He Is an awesome guy! I learned so much from him. They do a lot of improv on set, if you have seen the show you have probably guessed that. It is really fun and also challenging. Trying to keep up with it, and also trying not to laugh when it is funny are both hard, but when you feel like you really nailed it and can fit in with the adults, it feels good. I think it was probably one of my favorite acting experiences in my life so far, probably because of how Clayne and I got along, (and all of my scenes were with him). But also because of the awesome crew and other cast members-even ones I had no scenes with. Everyone is just so nice over there, and seemed like they really were enjoying what they were doing, and everyone wanted to be there and make a good show.

5. How did you prepare for the role and the action?

Well, there really wasn’t too much action for me, just a lot of running and I guess a little jumping. But, I do gymnastics and XMA, so I am pretty athletic in that way. As far as preparing for the role, I just study my lines and try to figure out who the character is. What his motivations are. Things like that.

6. What was the casting process like for Will vs. the Future?

It was pretty short for me, I sent in a tape and then a while later I got a call to come in to audition. I did not realize the audition I was going to was already the final callback, and some people already had contracts! There were a bunch of people there, a few of each of the main 3 characters. They kept mixing and matching people, but throughout the time I did keep going back in with either Lexi or Ashlyn, until it ended up being just the 3 of us a lot.

7. What is the best part of filming with Lexi Underwood?

I don’t know if I can name a best part, it was just fun! We just really hit it off and became good friends through the process. Obviously we were together a lot of the time, so it’s a good thing we get along!

8. How do you enjoy working with Ashlyn Faith Williams?

She is so nice and has such a bubbly personality. Even though she wasn’t on set as much as Lexi and I, the 3 of us grew very close.

9. What was your favorite scene to film?

I think the scene in the teacher’s lounge was my favorite. I like doing action and I did all of my own stunts, so that was cool.

10. What else have you been up to this year?

Well, I have spent a lot of time in New York. My dad is in Miss Saigon on Broadway at the moment, so my mom and I travel back and forth all the time. Luckily I am homeschooled, so it is not too hard. It does make auditions difficult sometimes. I do a lot of taping of auditions while I am there. Other than New York it has just been schoolwork and auditions!

Connor Rosen did a season one episode of The Neighbors. This year he has been seen in Camp Cool Kids, Walk the Prank and look for him in future episodes of the Disney XD series!

1. What was your time on set like filming American Horror Story?

My time on America Horror Story was so interesting. I spent more time in hair and makeup than in any other production and the job they did was amazing. I was also so lucky to meet many amazing actors.

2. What was it like to travel to Louisiana to film Camp Cool Kids?

The trip to Louisiana to film Camp Cool Kids was one that I will never forget. I met life long friends that actually feel more like Family and we keep in touch to this day.

3. How would you describe your character Spencer in the film?

My character Spencer was a lot like myself. I have had to overcome a lot of the same hurdles that he did and it was interesting that I had so much in common with my character. It felt like a perfect fit for me.

4. What was it like filming your episode of The Muppets?

It was so much fun filming The Muppets. It was one job that in my mind is priceless.

5. How cool was it to get to work with Kermit and Miss Piggy?

Kermit and Miss Piggy are legends and I’m so honored to have been in a scene with them. My mom was so excited!

6. What was your first day on set like for Walk the Prank?

The 1st day on set of Walk the Prank was great. There are so many other kids and they all made me feel right at home.

7. How would you describe your character Gross Gordy?

Gross Gordy was the best. He was so nerdy but had a quality that everyone can or should relate to, he just wanted to be friends with everyone. His heart was pure and kind.

8. Do you have a favorite episode you’ve done that’s aired?

My favorite Gross Gordy episode was for Gordy’s birthday party. It’s funny that his parents were super cool and gorgeous models.

9. How did you react when you found out you were being bumped up to recurring for season three?

When I got bumped up to recurring in season 3 it felt amazing because I had worked really hard and felt that I had brought Gordy to life in a way that he belonged there. I feel like he was the real comedic relief of the show. I’m honored that they bumped me up.

10. Is there anything you can preview about the upcoming season?

The upcoming season has a big twist in the finale so please stay tuned.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

I love my acting profession and that you for including me for this panel every year! Happy Holidays!

4 Days ‘Til Christmas!

Jonathan Tysor did an episode of Days of Our Lives for the carnival. This year he has been seen for Old Navy, Skittles, and has been busy working on A Doggone Adventure!

1. What was the experience been like doing a live theater production of Beauty and the Beast?

It was so much fun to perform in front of a live audience! I also loved being super dramatic and singing/dancing. I played Mr. Bundles, Wacky (had a great time learning the basics of being a ventriloquist!) and Eddie.

2. What was opening night like?

Everyone was super nervous before opening night because if you mess up on stage are no redo’s, however we all worked together and it turned out to be a huge success!

3. How did you enjoy doing a new shoot for Old Navy?

Doing Old Navy shoots is so fun because I get to travel to San Francisco and sometimes I have time to explore and do fun things there! Everybody on the shoot is also very nice and fun too.

4. What is the most challenging part of working with a green screen?

I love working on green screen. The most challenging part though is to look at the same things as everyone else when there’s nothing there. I have a vivid imagination and have no problem pretending to see things but coordinating with everybody else is can be a challenge.

5. What was the best part of being on a game show for Totally TV?

Being part of “What’s the Word” on TotallyTV was a blast. It’s unscripted and we just had fun. Smoochie the Clown was definitely a highlight too.

6. If you could film a project anywhere in the world where would it be and why?

I love to film in LA because I am closest to my friends and family. If I had to choose another place it would probably be somewhere in Scandinavia or Britain. I love Sweden and would like to travel more around in the Nordic countries. I would also like to travel in Britain because I LOVE their accents and I might get to see some Harry Potter attractions!

7. Do you have a favorite part of filming your Skittles commercial?

Of course I really enjoyed eating a lot of Skittles but I also got to work with Ashley and Edward (of Winterstone Pictures) who did my first ever commercial and they are the BEST!

8. What has your time on set been like filming A Doggone Adventure?

The Doggone team has become family by now. A Doggone Adventure was directed by Tony Randel (the first two were directed by Jim Wynorski). We all know each other well. This is the last movie in the trilogy and will be out very soon. It should be a fun one!

9. What is it like to return to your third film with the same cast and crew?

This cast has become so close and I have made great friends so returning to another film is great because we have so much fun and hang out together! In between takes on A Doggone Adventure my friend Walker (who plays David Hill) and I got to go explore an area with lots of rocks and our cast mate, Kurt (Yaeger), told us a lot about the different kinds of rocks and how to find gold!

10. Is there anything you can share about the documentary you have been filming?

I play the role of an astounding scientist as a child escaping Iran. He has an amazing story (and some incredible theories). We filmed out in Johnson Valley at a place called Dry Soggy Lake with an award-winning European film team. I got to meet the scientist I’m playing (hoping to take him up on the offer to visit him at Princeton one day!) and feel very lucky to have been part of this project. The documentary should be out sometime next year.

4 Days ‘Til Christmas!

Makayla Lysiak was seen in a 2014 episode of Parenthood. This year she has been busy with guest starring roles on New Girl, Speechless, The Last Ship, and you may recognize her as “Barbara” on the Audience series Mr. Mercedes!

1. What was the experience like filming an episode of New Girl?

Filming on the set of New Girl was one of the best experiences in my career. I got to work along side two insanely hilarious actors that I admire so much, Zoey Deschanel and Jake Johnson. All the scenes we shot were so funny! I tried not to laugh during takes. Zoey and Jake are comedic geniuses. Plus, I got to meet Olivia Rodrigo and Saylor Bell who made filming really fun. We talked a lot and got to know each other on set. The whole cast of this episode didn’t make my experience feel like work, they made it fun and exciting everyday.

2. Do you get nervous at all going into your first day on set for a new project?

Of course I get nervous! I feel like every actor does. When its my first day on a set sometimes I get scared I’m gonna forget my lines in front of big name actors, or look into the camera while filming. But, when I’m actually there in the moment, all my anxiousness and worry fades away. When I’m in front of the camera preforming, I feel free.

3. What was your time on set like filming for Speechless?

Filming Speechless was pretty cool. It was a one day shoot and I got to film at Fox Studios for the second time. It was quick shooting day but hey, work is work!

4. What was it like filming with Kyla Kenedy?

Filming with Kyla Kenedy was awesome. She was super nice and we talked in between takes. You could tell she was very professional. Kyla could always take direction really well and she knew her lines like the back of her hand.

5. How did you enjoy working with Alina Foley?

Alina Foley was great to work with. We would make small talk when the crew was setting up the shots.

6. What was the best part of filming for The Last Ship?

The best part about filming The Last Ship was definitely getting to go to an actual Naval ship base. The ships were HUGE, larger than you could even imagine. And I thought it was so cool that some of the extras were real life service members. I got to meet the people that serve our country and thank them for all they’ve done.

7. What was your first day on set like for Mr. Mercedes?

My first day shooting on Mr. Mercedes was SO AWESOME! This show was by far my favorite show I’ve ever worked on. I got to meet Jack Bender and Jharrel Jerome who made me feel at home right when I walked on the set. Though it was kind of intimidating working alongside an Oscar winning actor and such an iconic director. Both of them are so brilliant and talented. Plus I got to meet Emma Rayne Lyle which was a blessing in itself. She is such a sweet person that I had a great time getting to know better in between takes.

8. How did you enjoy getting to film the show in South Carolina?

I loved shooting in South Carolina. This was my first time shooting out of state, so it was very exciting. The show got us first class seats from LA to the south. When we got to South Carolina I saw that it was a lot different than LA. There were miles and miles of trees, all on flat land, no hills or mountains. And the food there is AMAZING! The next time I’m craving a barbecue sandwich, I will fly out to South Carolina for my meal.

9. How would you describe your character Barbara?

My character Barbara is always very busy. She likes organizing and planning things but sometimes get overwhelmed. She is very smart and shows it. And Barbara is strong but sometimes she can get insecure about herself. All will be revealed in episodes to come. Stay tuned!

10. Do you have a favorite episode you have filmed?

My favorite episode that I filmed on Mr. Mercedes was certainly the finale episode. They dressed the set like an art center. There was color and movement everywhere. It was indescribably beautiful. There was even some art work that came from the director, Jack Bender. I got to celebrate all the hard work the cast and crew did that season. Plus, I got free Mr. Mercedes merch!

Rowan Smyth did multiple episodes of Days of Our Lives. This year he was seen in an episode of Teachers and his film I Believe is now available on DVD!

1. How did you prepare for performing in the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards?

We had an all-day rehearsal the day before. There were a lot of us on stage so we had to learn our spacing and cues. It was a fun job to work because I have watched the awards many times and it felt so awesome to be up there.

2. What was the best part of working on your film Dismissed?

It was such a nice crew. I got to meet Dylan Sprouse (who I play in a flashback) which was exciting because my brother and I used to watch Suite Life a lot when we were younger.

3. What was it like to attend the screening at the San Diego International Film Festival?

So fun! They introduced the cast after the film and brought us up for a Q&A session at the end. It was so interesting to hear from the filmmakers and the vision for the movie.

4. How did you enjoy working on Comedy Bang! Bang!?

I had worked with the director on a commercial before so it was fun because I already kind of knew him. I also got to work with Weird Al who was really nice. My parents showed me some of his old videos from when they were kids so it was fun to meet him after that.

5. What was your experience like working on Teachers?

Teachers is such a funny show. The Series Regulars also produce the show so it’s really cool to see them all work and put so much into the show.

6. How did you like working with Kathryn Thomas?

She was great. I had to cry in the scene so she gave me some advice which was really nice.

7. How did you react when you booked I Believe?

There were quite a few callbacks and chemistry reads before I booked it so that added to the anticipation. I was SO excited when I heard. I really felt connected to the character so I was hoping it was meant to be (and it was!).

8. What was your time on set like working on the film?

Amazing! The other actors were so talented and I learned a lot. To get to be a lead in a film at my age felt really incredible.

9. How would you describe your character Brian Webber?

Brian is smart, curious and he loves his family. He was also very conflicted in the film because he was learning about God and became a Christian but his father didn’t support it.

10. Is there anything you can share about your role in Saturday at the Starlight?

I’m not sure what I am allowed to share but I can say it was fun filming and will be a funny movie.

5 Days ‘Til Christmas!

Belle Smith was seen in a season one episode of The Jim Gaffigan Show. This year she has been seen in episodes of Bull, I Witness, and you may recognize her from her recurring role on Vinyl!

1. What was it like filming your episode of I, Witness?

It was great! We all had fun! We filmed in a big office with my Latino family and Kai who is the lead role. They were all fun to be with. The production staff gave me and my TV brother toys to play with on set. In my scene, Kai handed me the stuffed dog. I played with that stuffed dog on and off camera and almost took it home with me.

2. What was the experience like working on Law & Order: SVU?

It was all fun for me. We went to this beautiful big building in New York City near the water and a park. We meet some of the cast there like Ice -T and Kelli Giddish. The filming was on the playground and I got to play with the other kids. It did not feel like working at all. My favorite part is playing on the swing.

3. How did you enjoy filming the movie Rough Night?

I had the best time filming Rough Night because I was with my friend Callie and we both had so much fun playing in the playground, running around, playing in the swing and slides both on and off camera. We also had fun going to the crafty services with all the candies and sweets they had. I feel that the only time I had to do acting was when I run to our pretend teacher played by Jilliann Bell. There was another scene when Jillian Bell picked me up and carried me on her arms but that part did not make the cut. The best part also was that some of the production staff were the same people I worked with on VINYL.

4. What was your time on set like filming Bull?

It was awesome! We filmed on the roof top of the building overlooking Central Park. The scene was my birthday party. The place was so beautiful and the decorations were fascinating. I love the light blue and white unicorn cake and also the unicorn cookies. There were so many balloons, gifts, and so many kids too! During breaks, I played with Lori and the other kids. We played with my ipad. I love and enjoyed my time on set filming BULL.

5. How did you enjoy having your Mom play your Mom?

I love it! It feels so natural acting my part having my real mom played my TV mom. It is unforgettable to me because I was the one who convinced my mom to do it. I asked her to audition with me. She didn’t want to do it at first. I’m very happy she did it.

6. What was it like to work on a NYC rooftop for the scene?

It was magical! You look down and everything looks small. The people and the cars look very small. When you look straight, you see the beautiful buildings of NYC and when you look up, it feels like you can touch the sky.

7. How did you enjoy working with Bobby Cannavale on Vinyl?

I love working with Bobby Cannavale . He was very nice to me and always talk to me when I was on set. As soon as he sees me, he calls my name “Belle” and always talk to me for a minute or two. He made me feel important and comfortable on set. I played his daughter and that was an amazing experience for me. In 1 of the episode which my mom said was a very emotional one, I saw him preparing for it while I’m on my way to the door after filming my part. Bobby saw me, he stopped what he was doing and talk to me before I left. It’s so awesome working with him. He is kind and nice to everyone. Before we finish filming, he wrote me a note on my diary and he also signed my pink guitar.

8. What was it like filming with Olivia Wilde?

I love working with Olivia Wilde. She was nice and friendly. I believe she likes carrying me on her arms. She did it on couple of our scenes and also when we took pictures together . Since I played her daughter, most of my scenes were with her. We always sit next to each other during hair and make up. It was a nice experience working with her.

9. Do you have a favorite scene you filmed for the series?

I filmed 8 out of 10 episodes and I love them all because each one is a unique experience but my favorite one is the first episode when I was sleeping on Olivia Wilde’s lap. That is so special because that was my very first acting experience on TV.

10. What has been your favorite project to work on this year?

Bull is a favorite because my TV mom was my real mom and because I got to celebrate my 8th birthday on TV. I also love my Print booking for Boscov’s because it was on my birthday. Thanks to my awesome Agent Renee Lauren.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Recently, I was given the opportunity to work with Shadow Magic director Ann Hu and TV shows like Billions, The Americans and Escape at Dannemora. Thank you Star Kidz for all the support and for including me here.

So every scene felt easy and real to me.

Attending the Screening of TTB was again, “surreal”. There I was watching this film that I’m starring in along side my BFF playing her twin?! It was crazy!! As we answered questions with the Director(Jillian Clare) I felt so thrilled and so happy for everyone who worked so hard on the film.

10. Is there anything you can share about your film The League of Legend Keepers: Shadows?

My film TLOLK is such a cool movie!!! It was beyond anything I’ve ever done!! There was a scene where Jake Brennan and I had to go underground in these tunnels at a military base. It was so creepy yet soooo fun!!!!! The film gets released Oct. 2018 and let me just say it’s an action packed fun thriller for all ages. I loved working with Elizabeth(the director) and helping make her vision come to life! The film is going to be epic!

Is there anything else you would like to add?

I do! I just worked on a new Netflix series staring Justin Willman. The show is untitled right now, but I’m really excited to see how everything turns out. Justin is so talented and it was soooo much fun working with him!!

My scenes will film towards the end of December. I can’t wait!

10. Can you share anything about your role in Little Cousin?

2. What was the experience like performing at Universal City Walk?

That was really cool because the tech on their stage was amazing the lights the sound for a live performance was probably the best I’ve ever experienced.

3. How does it feel to have worked on two iconic soap operas?

I feel really proud to have been able to work on such iconic soap operas. The professionalism on set is just an amazing experience.

4. What was the experience like being involved in the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards?

That was an incredible experience because not only was it a live television performance but it was also filmed in front of a huge crowd on stage. The energy was exciting and intense.

5. How did you enjoy getting dressed up as Wonder Woman?

That was really cool because the costumes were handmade for each person to fit you exactly and the details on the costumes were like nothing you can buy in any store. I still have mine. They let us keep them.

6. Did you do anything special to prepare performing in front of a crowd that large?

No, I actually didn’t realize how large the crowd was until I was out on the stage.

7. How did you prepare for your role in Shrek the Musical?

Well musical theater preparation is a lot of work I actually worked on that role for about three months before we opened the show.

8. What was it like taking the stage on opening night?

It was actually really hectic because I was working on the A&W commercial that day and I had to rush straight from filming to opening night and I actually missed walking the red carpet. I think we have some funny footage of me running down the red carpet all by myself as I was late for call time.

9. Who have been some of your favorite people to work with this year?

I was involved in a really cool film project and the director Natalia Hermida and her team were absolutely amazing. I learned so much from being on set with them and watching the way they all work together.

10. Is there anything you can share about your upcoming short film?

I was so thrilled to be involved with this project because all of my acting had to be done without any lines. It was all emotive through facial and body gesture.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Thank you to Star-Kidz for including me again this year in the Holiday Q&A.
