Well today is Monday and it supposed to be the day a new award goes up for voting but....we have a bit of a problem. With a lack of votes for last weeks Commercial nominees we do not have winner. We encourage everyone to please please take the time to vote. We are excited about this and hope to make it an annaul event but in order for that to happen we need more people to participate.

I had the wonderful opportunity to chat with Lauren O’Connor, mother of twins Ailish and Julia, who recently played baby Grace. Lauren was actually gracious and understanding enough to take time to speak with me a second time, since my first recording with her didn’t take. She talks about being on set with them, the heartfelt storyline with baby Grace, the set teacher who worked with them, her praise for Alison Sweeney, and even a little upcoming spoiler which will air in July.

So how was the first day on the set of DAYS with your twins, Ailish and Julia?
Marnie (Saitta, the casting director) arranged for someone to be with us because it’s just too short notice to call a nanny or to get someone else to be with me. We were back-up for the prior baby Grace who was sick. Marnie loved the babies, she said how adorable they were. She introduced them to some cast and crew and said, “Can I introduce them to the producer?", and mentioned it would be great to fit them in a spot someday. I thought, “That would be great, sure!” So we did since the other babies (Lily and Sophie Gimbel) weren’t able to finish the baby Grace storyline. I don’t know if it was a couple weeks later or when exctly it was, but shortly afterwards we said, “Sure, we’ll do the fifteen episodes,” and I knew the tragic storyline. I was like, “Okay, I’m not superstitious, I’m not worried, it’s a character.”

Good for you, because that’s the storyline of the year that’s going to go under my “Biggest Tearjerker,” definitely.
It got harder as we got towards the end of the storyline because a lot of the earlier tapings were of the baby with Sami when she seemed okay - with a just a fever that eventally broke. Then she had a seizure and was hospitalized. I was actually crying just from the reading the script. It’s a subject that is hard for anyone. Even though it’s only make-believe. But watching the scenes with Sami, her emotions,it was just, well... I don’t think anyone could really contain themselves. The actors were so good.

It was very hard to get through that week without needing a box of tissues, I agree. Even if you don’t normally watch the show, you couldn’t possibly sit through the show without feeling something. It was very emotional, very powerful.
Yes! I’m standing maybe ten feet away right behind the cameras looking at them, Sami and Rafe, and tearing up. I was asked if it was okay if the babies just stayed on the set the whole time because they had a bunch of scenes with the baby Grace that weren't back to back. We stayed so that actors wouldn’t have to break character. The babies were at ease, and it all worked out.

And tell me again, the set teacher named Bobbi, what it is that she did with them and what goes into working with a baby on the set?
She’s very good. She ensures that there’s no liability, that they handle the babies correctly, she accompanies me and my babies on set. There are a lot of cords and cables sometimes, the cameras are huge, and she’s just there to ensure that everything’s okay with me and the babies. She's been wonderful with Ailish and Julia. I mean, she really loves babies. She’ll come into the dressing room and when she has time in between takes for other babies or kids she handles, she’ll stay and chat and play with the babies, just a lovely lady.

And I remember you mentioned the other day that you hadn’t watched DAYS in about 14 years, you mentioned something about Jack and Jennifer. So did you understand this baby switch storyline, with it’s really Mia’s baby, but yet Sami doesn’t know it.
It’s interesting, because the first day that I came on set with the babies to cover for the mom whose babies were sick, a young gal had introduced herself to me and said “Hi, I’m Taylor (Spreitler, Mia). I play the babies’ mom.” But then I thought, “Okay,an interesting storyline," as she only looked 15. I had no idea about the twist and the turn and the baby mixup or the baby switch. I was clueless. I was even confused the first week we were filming. It’s just interesting, and unless you have been watching the soap you haven't got a clue, You know I just haven’t been watching the soap. It’s been a long, long time and I’m not even up to date with what’s going on.

And it’s even confusing for those of us who watch it consistently day after day.
I’m sure they do that on purpose (laughs).

Yes! (laughs).
I really want to mention that the actors handled the babies very well. Alison (Sweeney, Sami), is WONDERFUL with Ailish and Julia. As you know she has a baby of her own and has always been considerate to me, very friendly, so it’s been a great, great experience working with her and Galen (Gering, Rafe).

And you also mentioned to me that Alison was very concerned like if they needed a bottle warmed up.....
Yeah, she just said, “Is this okay? Do you need to warm it up?” I just thought it was very sweet that she thought of the little details. She’s a mom, and she’s wonderful about it! She is also just a true professional, a wonderful actress. Sometimes they do readings on the set before they actually film it, I think it’s a very quick study. But she’s not just doing her part, she’s concerned with what’s going on with everybody else. There was this scene with Rafe, Sami and Grace, and they were doing inserts of the baby to fill in the scene. (Because a lot of times it’s easier to film the baby, and then insert it where they want it to fit in the scene). And I remember Alison pointing out that the baby was supposed to be smiling as Rafe mentions how she has Sami's smile, so I sat underneath the cameras and try to get little Julia to smile, and she did. I thought it was great that she (Alison) pays attention to what’s going on with the other characters around her and not just her own character.

Yes, she’s a wonderful, wonderful actress all the way around. And you also mentioned how sweet Taylor Spreitler (Mia) was.
Yes, very nice on the set, VERY good with Ailish and Julia. She and Dylan (Patton, Will) were both very good with handling the baby.

And you mentioned the scene the other day that scene were little Grace was looking up at Will....
Oh, it was the scene (June 8, 2009 episode) where he asked his mom if he could hold baby Grace and she handed him to her, and the way Julia just leaned onto his chest and looked up to him pleadingly, it was just the sweetest thing like, “Oh, big brother, please help me!” It just seemed to really fit within that scene. And you can’t really direct a baby. It just happened. It was a wonderful, natural coincidence, which happened to work that way, and I just melted.

Yeah, that was a beautiful moment to see her looking up at her big brother like she really did adore him.
And after baby Grace passed away, I guess they wanted to film a dream scene and so we came back on Friday (6/12) and it felt so wonderful to come back on set. We were sitting in the dressing room and Gary (Tomlin) came up to me and the baby and said that she did such a great job, especially with that scene where Will was holding her. He (Gary Tomlin) expressed his appreciation for the work my babies did. It feels good when you get that kind of compliment from someone that high up.

That’s wonderful! I’m glad they treated you and your twins so wonderfully. Now you also mentioned a flashback scene where E.J. has some kind of dream sequence with baby Grace.
Yeah, and I don’t know when it airs, and I don’t want to be giving anything away if I’m not supposed to, but it’s some sort of thing, I guess they bring back people from the dead in some way. Like a dream scene or a flashback I guess I’ve heard it’s a common thing on soaps?

Yes! (chuckles)
It was one of those situations where my agent wasn’t sure if we wanted to come back and do it. Only because the babies have to sign up for AFTRA after 30 days of work. So, we went ahead and did it, and I paid the fees. So we came to the studio and it was wonderful because it only took two hours of our time. We came in, my husband had one Julia in one dressing room, and I had Ailish in another dressing room on a "playdate" with my friend Laura whose babies play Sydney (Hailey and Lauren Sinnema) and the next thing you know we are called in to film a very simple scene, it was short and sweet - a very easy day.

So now E.J., is he going to have some kind of dream sequence where he sees Grace and he’s with Nicole?
He was in his bed with Nicole and Sydney, and all of a sudden he sees instead Sami holding Baby Grace and she’s like “Isn’t she the sweetest thing?” It was just one of those things where he must be dreaming. I don't know if he will continue to have dreams of Grace, though.

Well, we can’t wait to see that. That sounds interesting. Do you think you're still going to watch Days of Our Lives after this storyline wraps up?
Probably now, because it actually got quite interesting. I even got caught up with the storyline with the kidnapping of Stephanie. It becomes interesting to see what’s going on. I also might because I think its fun to watch Hailey and Lauren play baby Sydney since I've gotten to know them and their mom Laura while working on set.

Now you also mentioned that your twins were trying out for a commercial.
Yeah, they’ve tried out for a commercial, and we always stay hopeful. You never know what they’re looking for. They have such a wide range in age and ethnicity, but you never know. So we just try to keep positive. Ailish and Julia had been on In the Motherhood and then went over to DAYS, and it worked out that the babies were consistently working for maybe two months I think or maybe a little more. So things will work, things will happen. I don’t know when or what but we’ll just keep our eyes open. And our agent, she says the same thing.

And they already have a very impressive resume, and they’re not even a year-old yet, so that’s wonderful.
It’s been a lot of fun. People have commented, “Oh my gosh! I saw your baby on the cover of a soap magazine!”

Well, you have every right to feel proud, that’s quite an accomplishment.
Absolutely!

Now let me just wish the twins an early Happy Birthday. I know they have a birthday coming up on July 17, turning the big “1.”.

Twin sisters Parker and Alexandra Fong are the latest to join the Star-Kidz family. Parker was seen on OLTL this week as one of the children at Stacey's dance class while Alexandra was seen on AMC this past winter at Emma's dance recietal. The girls may also look familiar from the Sex and the City movie where they shared the role of Lily.

Another Monday and another award. This week the video in the sidebar showcases our nominees for Favorite/Best Commercial. Now this week works a little differently. Our nominees have been broken up into 4 categories: Toddler, Kid, Pre-Teen and Teen. When you go to vote you are allowed to vote for one nominee per category, meaning you can vote for someone from the Toddlers, someone from the Kids etc. Happy Voting!!

As some of you know All My Children has added a new baby to its kids cast last week. The son of Amanda Dillon and David Hayward does not have a name yet but this little guy has won over the hearts of fans and actors alike. Not only have some upcoming episode stills been added to the gallery but last night Chrishell gave an interview at Buzzworthy Radio and I got the opportunity to ask her if she had any interesting stories about working with the new babies and here is what she had to say:

"Well actually you know the first day I held the baby which was what just aired. His name was Tristan and he was as you probably saw, the best baby I could have ever asked for, I mean, he was just perfect. And he was holding my finger and I was dying, it was just funny because I’ve been wanting a dog for the longest time and I keep on bugging Graham and saying “Can we get a dog? Can we get a dog?” and really its not even his fault since its New York City and our apartment says you cant have a dog, but *laughs* I like to bug him anyway. And so…as I was holding the baby I felt this, you know, as a woman, I felt this thing inside where I was like “Graham we have to get a dog!” *laughs* I said, "can you go get me a dog?" So yeah, I’ll just trail off there, but yeah I definitely felt the need for umm… when I was holding this little perfect baby and I just filmed some scenes the other day, I won’t give anything away, since I just filmed them, but, the baby is asleep on my…like on me and it was written in the script that he was supposed to be asleep, and that’s the, you know, mark of death when you write it in a scene that a baby is supposed to be sleeping, they’re never going to be sleeping, but for some reason the God’s just you know shined down on us because the baby was perfectly asleep while they’re you know, on set and it was really loud in there. And we filmed this scene and he was just so perfect and so sweet. It was, honestly I have no bad stories about the babies, oh! Wait! I forgot I have a really funny story about the babies, sorry. How could I forget this story? How could I forget. This is really probably not appropriate but it’s funny. We, okay, we did a scene and I’ll say who’s in it so you know when it airs, it’s me and…Amanda and Marissa, and umm…Amanda, Marissa and…Colby and we’re in ummm…the set and I’m supposed to take the baby from Marissa and hold it, and look at it and I’m not supposed to give anything away but I’m just supposed to have this intense look, you know, towards the baby. And so I picked the baby up from her arms and right at that perfect moment *laughs* the poor little thing decides to you know, go number two all in its diaper, but the thing is that you can hear it and its like vibrating on my hand *laughs* So I, of course I laughed, like, I got in trouble but I’m like guys come on I dare you to be in my position and not laugh, that’s funny! Me and Brianne who plays Colby, we were laughing, and they were like no, I don’t know, we kind of got reprimanded, but we just kinda looked at each other and were like “whatever that was hilarious”. It was really funny, it was loud for a little newborn. It was funny. I just think they were mad because the scene would have been over and they would have gotten the shot had I not laughed, but I couldn’t help it. That’s hilarious. And I feel like that should make the Christmas reel anyway."

Bree Williamson in the June 15th issue of ABC Soaps In Depth shares backstage stories from working with her young co-stars. On Working with the Sullivan triplets she comments: "I love them! They're the most wonderful, sweet babies ever. I always tease their mom, like, 'You wouldn't miss one, if I took just one! Don't be selfish!"...On Stephanie Schmahl: "When she found out that the baby wasn't Jessica's, she spent a week crying to her mom, 'Does this mean I won't be able to hang out with the babies anymore?' She was really upset about it, and her parents had to sit her down and explain it!" Awww...well we hope Stephanie and the Sullivan's still get to see each other backstage :)

Alright! So since I will be leaving next week for my summer vaca, I really really wanted to get the Days screencaps up-to-date. I, myself, will not be doing anymore Days screencaps until August, when I return but don't worry! Heaven will be filling in for me with Days caps!

Phoenix List, younger brother of Peyton Roi List and Spencer List has now joined our siblings section. Phoenix has done work for Sesame Street and is currently filming "Rabbit Hole" where he plays the son of Nicole Kidman and Aaron Eckhart.

This month's C.O.T.M is Grace Raphaela Brady. Lastly portrayed by twins, Ailish & Julia O'Connor, Grace recently passed away. The character was born on January 27, 2009 on the same day as Sydney Dimera. Grace & Sydney were switched at birth by Nicole. Grace's biological parents were Mia & Chad. Chad has yet to be onscreen and has no clue that he even had a daughter. Mia thinks her daughter is Sydney. Grace was raised by Sami Brady and Rafe Hernandez and though they told everyone that Sami adopted baby Grace, Sami believed that it was her & E.J.'s biological child, but she also did not know that her real baby is Sydney and Grace is Mia's.
Sadly, shortly before Rafe was to adopt this little one, Grace came down with bacterial meningitis and in the time of a week (our time), Grace has died.
So the least we could do, was make Grace our C.O.T.M.
R.I.P. little Gracie!

During the June 9, 2009 episode of Days of our Lives, the characters and fans said goodbye to little Grace Brady as she died from meningitis. Grace's last portrayers, Julia and Ailish O'Connor, of course have left the show. So this is also a goodbye to them. These girls are super adorable and we all hope they find some other show to become a part of. The character passed away on what would be the 9th birthday of Zack Brady, another child character who was tragically killed off just a few short years ago.
