Lilly knows how to get best out of little actor
William Blanchette, a 31/2-year-old boy cast as Aaron, spends a lot of time opposite Evangeline Lilly, the dark-haired actress who plays Kate. Whenever the Kahala boy sees "Evie," it's all hugs and kisses.
Lilly knows how to direct William better than anyone, said the boy's mother, Natasha. Her son used to work for pickles, but now he works for Lilly's "airplane" rides.
"When the director yells 'cut,' the crew are quick to take a couple of steps back as Evie sweeps William off his feet and proceeds to twirl and whirl around the set with him held over her head," Blanchette said. "She is unpredictable and William thinks that is hilarious. She is just so sweet."
William has played baby Aaron for several seasons, growing from infant to toddler on both "Lost" and in real life. That's him in one of the online "sneak preview" trailers for this season, wide-eyed as FBI agents come to the front door of the home where he and Lilly's character, Kate, are living.
Even though Lilly does not have children, she has an easy way with William, said Blanchette, who also has two older girls.
"You can't fake it with kids," Blanchette said. "She is just instantly in tune with whatever he is up to. I will go through a scene with him at home, but when we get there, she is the one who evokes the performance from him.
"The director will look at Evie and say, 'Can you get him to do this?' and she gets on her hands and knees and says, 'Come on, William.' "

McTigue Q&A
We have gratefully received a Q&A with the McTigue family! Answers by Mrs. McTigue, Rory, and Declan!
Q&A Is NOT to be duplicated. STAR-KIDZ exclusive

1. How do the boys enjoy working with Alexa and Becca/Jackie they seem really cute when there all on together.
Great. Rory & Declan's highlight of being on the set is being able to see their friends. They love playing with them between takes. They are very sweet girls, as is Lucy, and the boys are always happy to be around them.
2. What has been the boys favorite scene to shoot?
Rory loved the Halloween scene when Jacob put the clown nose on and Declan loved the Tornado scene because of all the special effects, the rubble and the [fake] blood. On second thought, Rory adds that, he, too, thinks that was his favorite scene.
3. How do Rory and Declan like being able to work with David Canary?
Rory yells: Great! Because he is so nice and patient and makes me feel comfortable. He always hugs me and smiles at me, that makes me feel good. Declan: I like him a lot because he takes good care of me on the set. He is the best grandpa on the set, and Vincent is, too.
4. What was the first job the boys booked?
A full-page print ad for Fisher Price in Baby Talk Magazine.
5. Do the boys miss working with Amanda Baker?
Declan: Yes. She was such a nice lady and I miss her really badly.
Rory: She was so sweet and I love her.
6. Is there anyway to tell the boys apart so that we know which boy does which scene?
Good question. Probably not...even Mom often has a hard time telling them apart; but Dad always seems to know. A few weeks ago they tricked their dentist and thought it was funny! Rory & Declan take turns so that they get equal time on the set, but Mom still always has to ask: "which one is Little A in this scene?!"
7. when did the boys officially become the primary Little Adam?
They began as back-up to Jarred in December 2007 and started to play Little A midyear of 2008.
8.What is the best thing about being on a soap? and what is the worst?
Rory: The best thing is being on the set with all the lights and cameras and the other actors. The worst thing is when bad things happen like David putting drugs in Krystal's milk. Declan: The best thing is the prop room. I got to look inside and see all the props and the [fake] snow and hospital set - I LOVE that stuff. Its soo cool. The worst thing? I agree with what Rory said.
9. How did the boys enjoy the big cast photoshoot for the 10,000th episode?
Great, because all the kids were there and it was a great party. We love when there are parties. Rory: But not so much when I have to choke at the party [smile].
10. How did the boys enjoy taping the Xmas Tree Scenes with Jacob and Chrishell?
Great! Great! It was awesome. They got to keep one of the props, and Jacob & Chrishell had a lot of fun, too. In a later scene Declan got to fight Chrishell in a sword fight. He and Rory are not sure if she really liked that so much. But she was laughing hard, so they think she was. Also, [spoiler alert] Declan gets to chase one of his favorite friends around the living room with the electric car Vincent gave him! Doesn't get much better than that. All the Christmas scenes were great.

Interview with Austin
Amy: At what age did you start pursuing a career in acting and how did the interest in the field come about?
Austin: I did a few commercials when I was 8. Later that year I booked my first movie The Good Shepherd, as a young Matt Damon. I got interested in acting because my mom did commercials when she was my age and after seeing them, I wanted to be on TV, too.
Amy: Once you received your big break how did the rehearsing affect your everyday schedule? How did you manage with school and such?
Austin: My first lead role was as Henry Clayton in the movie Michael Clayton, when I was 9. We didn't rehearse, because Tony Gilroy (the director) wanted the scenes to be fresh. So we went right to filming. I did a lot of filming on the weekends and during February break, so I didn't miss too much school. When I did miss, my teacher gave me the work, and I made it up. Now on OLTL, I get my schoolwork done on set and I learn my lines at night for the next day.
Amy: How is working in daytime different than in film?
Austin: Working in daytime is different from film for many reasons. The biggest change is in the pacing of the filming. On OLTL, it feels like almost filming a movie a day, because there are like 100 pages of script every day. Another difference is how both are filmed. In movies, there is usually only one camera but in daytime TV, there are many cameras all going at once. Lastly, with movies, you get the script pretty far in advance, but in daytime, there are lots of lines to learn without much time to learn them.
Amy: Is there anyone in particular from One Life to Live who took you under their wing?
Austin: Erika Slezak has given me a lot of really good tips. She's really nice. Everyone has been really nice.
Amy: I have to ask Did it feel funny to be scolded for cursing by your onscreen mom, Gigi (Farah Fath), during the scene where Shane was trying to protect her from Lee Ramsey (Hunt Block)? Did your mom get a chuckle out of it?
Austin: It didn't really feel funny when Farah scolded me because she is such a good actress, it felt like it was my real mom getting mad at me for cursing. My mom thinks it's funny when Gigi scolds Shane. She thinks that Gigi is totally believable as a mom.
Amy: You've been labeled by fans as being one of the cutest kids in daytime. How do fans react when they see you on the street?
Austin: I have never been recognized by anyone on the street, except when I was working on the street with George Clooney and everyone wanted to take pictures and get his autograph. It was crazy!
Amy: Do you have any new projects in the works?
Austin: I play a bully to Elle Fanning in Phoebe in Wonderland, which just premiered at Sundance, and will probably be released sometime in 2009. I also have a pretty dramatic part in an episode of Law & Order this season, which is aired in March.
Amy: If you could work with any actor who would it be and why?
Austin: There are so many actors and directors who I would like to work with, I can't just name one. I hope to get the chance to work with a lot of them during my lifetime.
Amy: What do you like to do for fun?
Austin: For fun, I like to hang out with my friends, skateboard, play sports, cards and videogames.
Soaps.com wants to thank Austin for taking the time out of his busy schedule to talk with us today. It was refreshing, and impressive, to hear about all of his accomplishments thus far in his young career. We wish you the best, Austin, and much success in all that your future holds!

January's COTM
To start of the New Year, January's COTM is Anthony DeMarco. Back in 2006, Anthony was in 3 episodes of Days of our Lives: 2 as James, the boy that falls on Morgan Island; and one episode as Young Shawn. But that's not the reason that Anthony is Child of the Month. Anthony has done quite a few movies and has appeared in numerous episodes of "My Name is Earl". Imparticularly, he is COTM for his role as "Jake" in "Jake's Closet." He did an amazing job!
And for that, Anthony is January 2009's COTM!
